Update for Blottedcopybook

Hope the birthday girl has had a good day Vonnie!

Anyhow, I have finished one of the legs on Erica's shorties, and decided to try out a crochet ruffle instead of good ole moss stitch, if you don't like it then let me know and I can rip it out no problem :)

Crochet ruffle

However, I am scarily running out of her main colourway, should be enough to finish the other leg but it leaves me concerned about Nairn's shorties as obviously his are bigger, any ideas there? Would you like some striping or to try another yarn altogether?

Some patterns are easier for beginner's to read than others honestly! if you can do the knit stitch then that's a great start, you could make a scarf by doing only knit stitches both sides which results in something called 'garter stitch'. The other stitch which is important to learn is 'purl' and the reverse of knit, alternating the two stitches on each side (as ina row of purl, then knit, then purl etc) results in 'stockinette stitch' which is the stitch on this pic. maybe take a look at knittinghelp.com ??

Well you mention colinette and I am planning on ordering from them with the 25% discount voucher (if it still works!) so if you'd like to order some with me that'd be fine, otherwise I am happy to do stripes for you - whichever you prefer :)

I'll finish Erica's other leg off and get a better picture today hopefully!

Ooo am loving that ruffle. Where did you find the pattern for it? Love the colours of the yarns too, very Spring/Summery.

I've done about an inch of the brioche stitch for Carter's shorties now. Off out today but will take it with me to do in the car. Should have it done and sent off to you by the end of the week. Then I really need to make some more shorties for Morrie (I'm guessing he won't approve of ruffles?) and then some for Beebe

Out of my head ;) I love the ruffle, it's not psycho like my knitted ruffles go, and it lays much nicer. I'm going to add it to my custom options on the shop I think as it's just so lovely.

You're making fast progress on those shorties :D Sounds great, forgot to answer your question about lanolising - feel free to lanolise them if you can, but if not then don't worry about it :)

grr sneaky woman, how am I supposed to have a go at that ruffle if it's from your head *sulks* :-p I'll just have to buy something knitted off you as well as the skirty :-o

It's no problem to lanolise them as I'll probably have some other things to do as well (I'll do yours first and then if the water gets dyed I'll only lanolise my green woolies!), just wasn't sure if you had some sort of lanolising routine :-)
